Greensboro, N.C. - Campbell's volleyball team picked up their second win of the season (2-2) to defeat the Aggies of North Carolina A&T in three sets (25-18, 28-26, 25-14), Tuesday night at Moore Gymnasium. Katelyn Layden recorded 11 kills on 29 attacks to lead the Camels to victory.

"I think the biggest thing about today's match is that we were a little bit more consistent throughout. I thought we did a pretty good job serving well, we had a few too many miss but at the same time I thought we put a lot of pressure on them and forced them into some tough situations," said head coach Greg Goral.

The Camels started the game off trading points with the Aggies from N.C. A&T. At the first timeout Campbell led 10-6 and never relinquished control of first set. The team tallied 12 kills on 30 attacks, four by Layden and three by junior Jenny Tait. Rebecca Ramirez totaled 11 assists in the first set to help the Camels take the point.

The Aggies recorded seven kills on 32 attacks in set one. Aleena McDaniel led with three kills and 12 attacks. N.C. A&T tallied 12 digs to the Camels 17, while each team totaled three team blocks.

Set two started a little slow for the Camels who did not get their first point until N.C. A&T had scored six. After the first timeout, Campbell started to gain traction and scored on 13 kills, a service ace and some errors by the Aggies to tie and take the lead at a late timeout by the Aggies (19-17).

N.C. A&T did not falter and kept their cool to tie the set at 22 all and the Aggies took the lead 25-24 after a few Campbell errors. The teams would continue to swap points back and forth until the Camels finally got the two point lead needed to win the set 28-26.

The Camels racked up 16 kills on 44 attacks in set two, while the Aggies were close behind with 15 kills also on 44 attacks. Both squads recorded 20 digs in the second set but the Camels led in assists with 14 to the Aggies 12.

Campbell started set three on a roll with an 8-1 score heading into the first timeout. The Camels maintained a solid lead throughout the set but the Aggies managed to squeeze out a few points on some Campbell errors and a couple of kills. In the end CU kept the lead and won the set 25-14.

The Camels are off until Friday when they host UNC Wilmington at 7:00 p.m. at the Hampton Inn & Suites of Holly Springs Invitational.
