BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Despite losing a 3-0 lead with 35 minutes remaining in regulation, Campbell earned a double-overtime 4-3 victory over Jacksonville on Friday evening at the Eakes Athletic Complex on Bradley Farias' golden-goal penalty kick.

The Camels (3-3-0) picked up their first non-regulation win since a 1-0 victory over NC State in overtime on Oct. 4, 2011, as Farias and freshman Seth Jones each found the back of the net two times. Farias' successful penalty kick to win the match was the first for Campbell since Justin Franz converted from the spot at Winthrop on Oct. 8, 2013.

Jacksonville (2-3-1) held a 7-6 edge in corner kicks in the contest, but Campbell fired one more shot on goal, 11-10, than the Dolphins. Both goalkeepers, Patrick Harding for Jacksonville and Matthew Mozynski for Campbell, played the full match while making seven saves apiece.

Assistant Coach Ed Joyce filled in for Head Coach Dustin Fonder, who was unable to be on the bench after receiving a red card in Campbell's win over Belmont in its last time out.

"We had a good gameplan in place of how we felt we wanted to play, Dustin did a great job of keeping us in the loop on that so we were well-versed on what we wanted to do," Joyce said. "It's just our job. If one man can't go then you have to step up."

Both sides enjoyed chances in the first five minutes. On the first possession of the match, Jones was able to get in close to test Harding from less than 10 yards out, but the Dolphin keeper was able to collect the save. Four minutes later, Allan Morgan pressed Mozynski into action, and the redshirt sophomore was able to parry away the chance to maintain the early deadlock.

The Camels had a a pair of chances in the 20th minute from Farias and Jones, but the former's shot was sent away by the Jacksonville defense while the latter's chance went just wide left.

Aside from a strong attempt by Ricki Gaez in the 35th minute which Harding stonewalled, neither side could find a chance to break the 0-0 draw prior to the halftime break.

Coming out of the locker room, Campbell quickly built a 3-0 lead over the opening 10 minutes of the second half. Jones netted his first collegiate goal to put the Camels up 1-0 at the 49:45 mark; the ball settled at his feet off a deflection and the freshman sent a blast from 25 yards out past Harding and into the right corner of the goal.

Farias followed up just under three minutes later, scoring directly off a free kick from just outside the box. Again the Camels were able to beat Harding to the right side as the sophomore scored his sixth goal of the season for the 2-0 advantage.

Campbell ran the lead to 3-0 on Jones' second of the night at the 55:06 mark. Harding misplayed a ball while fielding a cross in from the Camels, allowing it to slip out of his grasp with Jones there to put it away.

"Seth just works really hard. He listens well and he has a lot of natural ability," said Joyce. "It's fun to work with a player like him because you see so much improvement so quickly."

Ivo Lima cut into Campbell's lead at 58:47, getting the Dolphins on the board as he found the back of the net on a volley off a deflection. Fielding the ball at the far post, Lima one-touched it past Mozynski for the 3-1 scoreline.

In the 76th minute, Lima set up the Dolphins' second goal of the evening. Dribbling through the right side of the penalty area, he was able to slot a pass to Ejiroghene Mrabure at the top of the box who fired into the left side of the goal.

Jacksonville was awarded a penalty kick in the 87th minute following a handball in the box. Martin Agredo lined up the kick but his initial attempt was parried away by Mozynski. Joe Amico collected the rebound on the right side and notched the equalizer with just over three minutes left in regulation.

In the first 10-minute overtime, Mozynski was tested by Agredo and Amico on a pair of shots early, coming up with a pair of saves to prolong the contest. Matt Martinez gave Campbell its best chance of the period on a header in the 99th minute but sent his attempt just to the right of the goal.

Much like Jacksonville's equalizer at the end of regulation, Farias' match-winner was set up by a handball inside the penalty area. Set up on the spot, the Indiantown, Fla., native beat Harding for his Big South-leading seventh goal of the season to earn the win for the Camels.

"We've got a lot of young kids growing up, and we're developing some leadership ability out of these tough matches," Joyce said. "Adversity is an important thing, and if you don't see it before you hit conference play it can hurt you, so it's a positive that we're seeing it now."

Campbell will return to action at home on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. against Stetson in its final non-conference match before kicking off Big South play next Saturday against Longwood. The Camels hold a 12-7-1 edge in the all-time series against the Hatters and won the last meeting 3-1 in DeLand, Fla., last season.
