WOLCOTT, COLO. – Annelie Sjoholm finished fifth individually and Campbell placed fifth in the team standings following Wednesday's final round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge at Red Sky Golf Club.
San Diego State (294-286-278—858) won team honors at six-under-par, 20 strokes ahead of runner-up TCU (289-299-290—878). No.-19 Arizona State was third (299-305-279—883) followed by host Denver (296-290-299—885) and Campbell (299-297-292-888).
Pepperdine (898), Long Beach State (901), Memphis (905), Mississippi (909) and Wichita State (917) rounded out the top-10 in the 17-school event that pitted teams from 17 different conferences.
Three Camels finished among the top-20 individuals and the team defeated schools from the Big Ten, SEC and ACC as well as nine other Division I leagues.
A sophomore from Vasteras, Sweden, Sjoholm birdied three of her last four holes Wednesday to earn her first top five finish of the season. She finished the event with 15 birdies, second only to individual medalist Emma Henrikson of San Diego State (72-67-67—206), who had 20. Sjoholm also tied for the tournament lead in par-four scoring (-3) while playing at an elevation of more than 7600 feet on the par-72, 6261 layout.
Campbell senior Tahnia Ravnjak (71-76-73—220) tied for eighth place on the individual leader board for her second-straight top-10 finish to start the 2015-16 campaign. Ravnjak played the par-five holes at 4-under for the event to tie for sixth among the 86 participants. She made 11 birdies over 54 holes (T10th), including three on Wednesday.
Junior Louise Latorre earned her second-straight top-20 finish by placing in a tie for 17th (77-71-75—223). Fellow junior Nadine White moved up five spots on the leader board and tied for 33rd (78-76-73—227) after a final round that included three birdies and 11 pars. Sophomore Ayelen Irizar finished 85th (77-89-84—250).
Campbell returns to action Oct. 18-20 when it hosts the Fighting Camel Fall Classic at Keith Hills Golf Club.
