CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sophomore Lawrence Kipkoech has been named the Big South Runner of the Week, announced Wednesday by the league office.
Kipkoech claimed the runner-up spot at the Panorama Farms Invitational on the weekend, finishing with a 23:46.4 time, .4 seconds behind first place. The Eldoret, Kenya native also set the new school record, previously held by Terrance Attema set in 2010.
Kipkoech earned Big South Male Runner of the Year during the outdoor track season and he also finished in 10th minute in the 10,000 meter run during the outdoor track season.
As a team, the Fighting Camels finished fifth, the highest rank amongst Big South schools. Liberty finished ninth, High Point 10th, Radford 14th and Coastal Carolina 16th.
