BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell hosts Charleston Southern Saturday in a 12:00 p.m. tip-off that will be televised by the American Sports Network from Gore Arena.

The Camels (8-9, 2-5 Big South) are coming off a 74-57 setback Thursday against Longwood - the team's fourth-straight loss in league play  Chris Clemons scored 22 points, while D.J. Mason and Troy Harper added 13 apiece for the Camels, who made 7-of-27 threes.

Charleston Southern (6-11, 2-4) ended a 3-game losing streak Thursday with a 64-63 victory over Liberty.  Aaron Wheeler led a balanced Buc attack with 14 points, while Demtrius Pollard added 13.

Campbell stands 5-4 at home this year, while Charleston Southern is 1-7 on the road.

The Bucs enter the game leading the Big South and ranking 8th in the nation in 3-point field goals made per game (10.3).  Raemond Robinson entered this week as the nation's 14th-most accurate 3-point shooter (.473).

Clemons leads the Big South in 3s made per game (3.06), while CSU's Patrick Wallace is 2nd (3.0).

Notable:

  • As a team, the Camels are shooting 72.5% from the free throw line in conference games, third-best in the Big South.  Troy Harper (.829), Shane Whitfield (.824) and Chris Clemons (.846) are all shooting better than 80% from the stripe vs. BSC foes.
  • Chris Clemons ranks 5th among Big South scoring leaders (17.2) and tops all league freshmen in the category.  He leads the league in FT% (.885) and is the nation's 6th-leading freshman scorer.
  • Pre-season All-Big South Conference center D.J. Mason leads the Big South in  rebounding (8.1) and is averaging 11.5 points while shooting 51% from the field.  He hit career highs with 24 points and 15 rebounds vs. Presbyterian.
  • Sophomore guard Troy Harper stands 11th among Big South scoring leaders (13.3) and is 9th in free throw percentage (.720).
  • Junior guard Kyre' Hamer stands 25th on the Big South scoring charts (10.5), is tied with sophomore forward Shane Whitfield for 11th in free throw shooting (.706) and is 13th in steals (1.35).
  • Campbell rates 2nd in the league in turnover margin (+1.65), averaging 12.6 miscues per game.
  • Charleston Southern has won the last three meetings and owns a 24-22 edge all-time between the schools after sweeping the season series in 2014-15.
  • On Jan. 5, 2015, CSU outscored Campbell 7-0 over the final 41.3 seconds and rallied for a 74-71 win at the CSU Field House.
  • The Bucs wrapped a 21-0 run around half-time to break open a close game and stay on top of the Big South standings on Feb. 21, 2015 after an 86-57 win at Gore Arena.
  • Charleston Southern shared the 2015 Big South regular season championship and represented the league in the NIT, where the Bucs fell at Old Dominion 65-56 in the opening round.
  • Campbell owns a 9-7 record all-time against CSU in games played in Buies Creek, including a 2-1 mark at Gore Arena.
  • The CSU Field House holds the distinction of being the smallest capacity (881)  home court in the Division I ranks.  Campbell's old venue -- Carter Gym -- was the country's smallest men's setting (947 seats) before CSU reconfigured its building.  CU moved into the 3,095-seat Gore Arena before the 2008-09 season.
  • Campbell is 8-13 all-time at Charleston Southern and 7-13 at the CSU Field House.  However, the Camels have not won at the "Buc Dome" since an 81-64 victory on Feb. 11, 1993.  CU is 0-3 at the cozy arena since re-joining the Big South in 2011-12.
  • Following Saturday's game the Camels return to action Wednesday at Radford (7:00 p.m.).
