Final Results

LA ROMANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC -- Campbell University just Gaston Bertinotti finished in a tie for sixth place Sunday at the Latin American Amateur Championship.

A junior from Cordoba, Argentia, Bertinotti finished the 72-hole event a even-par 288 on the par-72, 7202-yard Teeth of the Dog at Casa de Campo.  Paul Chaplet of Costa Rica won the tournament at 3-under par and earned a berth in The Masters.

Ranked No.-234 in the World Amateur Golf ranking, Bertinotti shot 75-67-79-77 over the four-day event.  He finished 19th in the 2015 Latin America Amateur Championship held in his native Argentina.

Bertinotti has finished among the top five individuals in the 2014 and 2015 Big South Conference Championships.  In three events last fall, he recorded a 71.75 stroke average with a trio of top-15 finishes.  He tied for second at the Old Dominion OBX Collegiate, helping Campbell win the team crown.

Not only was Campbell ranked 77th overall among 295 Division I programs at the end of the fall season, but the Camels are among the nation's top 10 teams statistically in four categories.

Campbell owns the nation's second-best par-3 scoring average (3.07), is fourth in both greens in regulation percentage (.692) and putts on greens in regulation (1.83), while standing eighth in fairway percentage (.720).

CU's short game percentage (.527) is the country's 16th-best figure, and the Camels stand 33rd in average putts (31.32), 34th in average score (72.95), 39th in score vs. par (+1.40) and 45th in subpar strokes per round (3.27).

Bertinotti stands fifth among Big South scoring average leaders (71.75) and his season-low 66 is tied for fourth-best in the conference this year.  Nationally, Bertinotti stands 12th in fairway percentage (.804), 39th in greens in regulation (.694) and 46th in putts on greens in regulation (1.810).

Campbell returns to tournament play Feb. 1-2 at the Sea Best Invitational at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
