WINSTON SALEM, N.C. – Campbell track & field completed its second consecutive meet at the JDL Fast Track as they participated in the Camel City Elite Invitational.
Last week they competed in the UNCG Team Challenge, which was hosted at the same venue.
On the men's side, Davian Rhodes led a trio of Camels in the high jump in which he finished in sixth place overall with his 2.05-meter jump. Chase Edwards finished the event with a 1.86-meter jump and freshman Nate Tyson jumped 1.81-meters.
Cornelius Scott and Fabian Jarrett finished back-to-back in the 200-meter dash, finishing .07s apart. Scott crossed the line at 23.44s while Jarrett completed the race at 23.51s. Jarrett also competed in the 400-meter dash, finishing the race at 53.47s. Freshmen Chigoze Atavwigho also competed in the 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash.
Lorne Jenkins placed ninth in the long jump with his 6.98-meter jump on his third attempt of the competition. He also represented Campbell in the 60-meter dash, finishing with a mark of 7.30s.
In the men's 3000-meters, Jacob Kipserem placed 27th with a time of 8:45.91, teammate Mason Holt also competed in the event for the Orange and Black.
Noah Tyson and Taylor Swanson finished in the top-20 for the men's triple jump. Tyson finished the event in 16th place with a jump of 13.36-meters and Swason finished two spots back with a mark of 12.91-meters.
On the women's side, freshman Deonica Reid finished 29th in the 60-meter dash with her time of 7.87s. Sabina Allen and Lilla Juhasz also competed in the 60-meter dash for the Fighting Camels.
Jocelyn Culbreath finished in 12th place in the 200-meter dash, running a time of 25.80s. Classmates Tatiana Wolfe and Sabina Allen also competed in the 200-meter dash, runningtimes of 26.30s and 27.10s respectively. Reid also ran in the 200-meter dash for Campbell.
Culbreath registered a top-10 finish in the 400-meter dash with her time of 58.06s. She also ran the first leg of the 4x400-meter relay, helping her squad finish in eighth place in the event.
Juhasz finished sixth in the 60-meter hurdles with her time of 8.54s, her second-best time of the season. Wolfe also made the finals in the 60-meter hurdles, completing the race with a time of 8.77s.
Joan Maritim represented the Camels in the 3,000-meter race, finishing the event in 9:57.74, good for sixth place. In the 800-meter race, Roshae Jackson finished in ninth place with a mark of 2:16.89. Jackson led the first leg of Campbell's distance medley relay team while Maritim was the last leg of the team, which finished in third place.
In the women's long jump, Allen was the top representative for CU with her jump of 5.29-meters while Shenelle McKay and Reid finished 34th and 36th respectively. Jaszlyn Jenkins also competed in the event, finishing 38th. Jenkins finished eighth in the triple jump with her mark of 11.54-meter mark.
Campbell returns to the track for a pair of meets Feb. 5 and 6 with the Meyo Invtiational in South Bend, Ind. and the Buccaneer Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn.
