Softball releases 2017 schedule

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell will host 25 home games along with two home tournaments during the 2017 season.

The Camels will participate in five tournaments during the first half of the season, including two in Buies Creek. The non-conference portion of the schedule is highlighted by home dates with two ACC opponents.

 

 

Campbell opens the season with the first of its two home tournaments, the Campbell Invitational, set for Feb. 10-12. Opponents during the weekend feature St. Francis (Pa.), North Carolina Central and Maryland-Eastern Shore.

The Camels will play St. Francis and Maryland-Eastern Shore Feb. 10, North Carolina Central and St. Francis Feb. 11, and a single game against St. Francis Feb. 12.

Feb. 17-19, the Camels travel to the USC Upstate Classic, which will feature matchups against Iona, USC Upstate, Furman, and Towson. Two days later, Campbell will take on Elon (Feb. 21) in a single game contest on the road before returning to non-conference tournament play.

Campbell will travel to the Coastal Carolina Invitational, Feb. 24-26, for a five-game set, featuring Cleveland State, Morehead State, Penn State and the host school, Coastal Carolina.

The squad returns back to Buies Creek for a home contest against UNC Greensboro, March 1, before hosting the Camel Stampede, March 3-4. Campbell welcomes Appalachian State, Norfolk State and Rider for the second tournament in Buies Creek.

A Spring Break trip to the Volunteer State follows for Campbell, as it takes on Tennesse (March 6), a doubleheader at Austin Peay (March 7) and a single game at Lipscomb (March 8).

The final non-conference tournament of the season commences for Campbell March 10-11 in Greensboro, N.C. as it will take on Delaware and UNCG during the two-day event.

The first of two ACC opponents comes to Amanda Littlejohn Stadium, March 14, as CU takes on North Carolina in single game action.

Three days later, Big South play begins with a three-game series against Longwood (March 17-18). Campbell will also host Liberty (April 1-2), Gardner-Webb (April 21-22), and Charleston Southern (May 5-6) in conference action. In away conference action, Campbell will travel to Presbyterian (March 25-26), Winthrop (April 7-8) and Radford (April 14-15).

Campbell will travel to East Carolina (March 21) and UNC Wilmington (March 22) during the midst of conference play. The Camels will host North Carolina A&T (April 18) and North Carolina State (April 26) in non-conference play as well.

The Big South tournament is set for May 10-13 in Farmville, Va.

Campbell finished the 2016 season as Big South Championship runner-up and returns all but one from last year's squad.
