CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the second time this season, Campbell cross country has swept the Big South Runner of the Week awards, the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon. Senior Amon Terer was named the Big South Male Runner of the Week, while junior Joan Maritim was named the Big South Female Runner of the Week.
Maritim got the busy weekend started for the Camels, picking up her second-straight individual win at the High Point VertCross Invitational on Friday, Oct. 14. She completed the 6K course in 20:41.49, shattering her personal best 6K time by more than 40 seconds.
Terer posted one of the best outings of his Campbell career at NCAA Pre-Nationals on Saturday, Oct. 15. Racing against some of the nation's top talent, he finished third overall with a mark of 23:58.5. The strong performance earned Terer a spot in the FloTrack.com Saucony Flo50 men's individual rankings, coming in as the No. 13 runner in the country.
This is the second Big South weekly honor for Maritim this season and the first for Terer. Up next, the Camels will continue training as they prepare for the Big South Championships, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 28.
