RALEIGH, N.C. – With four players among the top 24 golfers, Campbell is sixth in the team standings after 36 holes Monday of the Wolfpack Intercollegiate men's golf tournament at Lonnie Poole Golf Club.
Jesper Svensson is tied for 11th at 2-under par, while Max Theodorakis, Thomas La Morte and Gaston Bertinotti are tied for 24th at one-over 143 on the par-71, 7358-yard layout.
At 18-under par, East Carolina (271-279—550) owns a five-stroke lead over Kennesaw State (278-277—555) heading into Tuesday's final round. Augusta (289-274—563) is third, followed by host NC State (287-279—566), Rhode Island (287-281—568) and Campbell (290-279—569) in the 17-school field.
Timonthy Conover of ECU (67-67—134) and Jacob McBride of NC State (68-66—134) share the individual lead at 8-under par through two rounds. Matt Carter of USC Upstate (68-69—137) and Chris Guglielmo of Kennesaw State (72-65—137) are tied for third.
Svensson opened the day with a 3-under-par 68 in the morning round and shot a one-over 72 in the afternoon and is tied for 11th at 2-over 140. The sophomore from Balsta, Sweden is tied for fifth in the event in par-5 scoring (-4) and is tied for 10th with eight birdies.
Theodorakis followed an opening round 73 with a 1-under 70. He made 27 pars on the day, tied for third in the 90-golfer field. LaMorte followed a first-round 75 with a 68 in the afternoon round that included six birdies. Through 36 holes, he stands fourth in the field with 10 birdies and is tied for eighth in par-four scoring (even).
Bertinotti shot 74-69—143 and played a bogey-free back nine at 3-under during the afternoon. He is also even on the par-four layouts. Ray Kraivixien (75-74—149) is tied for 60th at 7-over.
As a team, the Camels are tied for second in par-4 (+10) and par-5 (-1) scoring and are fourth in pars (114) and birdies (34).
Campbell will be paired with NC State and Rhode Island for Tuesday's final round and start from the first tee at 8:45 a.m. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
