KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Ray Kraivixien and Jesper Svensson are tied for 28th individually and Campbell is seventh in the team standings following Sunday's first round of the East Bay Deli Classic at Kiawah.
Tennessee was the lone school in the 22-team event to finish in red numbers as a team at three-under 285, three strokes ahead of Augusta. Campbell finished at eight-over 296 on the par-72, 6911-yard Turtle Point layout.
Kraivixien and Svensson turned in one-over-par 73s as only 12 of the 118 players in the field finished below par Sunday. Kraivixien played his last 10 holes at 3-under par, while Svensson was 2-under over his last five.
After playing his last five holes 2-under, Gaston Bertinotti is tied for 36th at 2-over 74. Craig Hornberger is tied for 60th (76), while Thomas La Morte is tied for 73rd (78).
Jack Smith of Tennessee is the individual leader after shooting a four-under-par 68, one stroke better than Pablo Torres of Jacksonville State.
Monday's second round begins with a 10:00 a.m. shotgun start. Tuesday's final round is set for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun. Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com.
