KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Ray Kraivixien tied for 15th on the individual leader board and Campbell finished eighth in the team standings after Tuesday's final round of the East Bay Deli Classic at Kiawah.
In an event where none of the 22 teams and only seven individuals finished the 54-hole tournament in red numbers, Campbell (296-299-301—896) tied with Troy for eighth place. The Camels finished ahead of five fellow Big South Conference schools, while also defeating Big Ten members Maryland, Nebraska and Rutgers.
Tennessee won team honors at 3-over-par 867, four strokes better than runner-up Augusta. The Volunteers (2-under) were the only team to play the final 18 holes below par.
Kraivixien (73-72-74—219) finished 10 strokes behind medalist Andrew Novak of Wofford (70-68-71—209) to claim his third top-20 result in five tournaments this fall. The sophomore from Bangkok, Thailand tied for sixth in the 118-golfer field in par-5 scoring (-6) and made nine birdies on the par-72, 6911-yard Turtle Point layout.
Gaston Bertinotti tied for ninth in par-3 scoring (even) and was 32nd overall (74-73-78—225). Jesper Svensson tied for 36th (73-77-76—226), Craig Hornberger tied for 61st (76-80-74—230) and Thomas La Morte tied for 77th (78-77-77—232). La Morte made 36 pars, eighth-best in the field.
As a team, the Camels were third in par-3 scoring (+7) and eighth on the par-five layouts (-9).
Campbell returns to action Feb. 6-7 in the Sea Best Invitational at Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
