SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Nathan Kraisser has been named the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for his performances during the Nov. 5-6 weekend.
Kraisser began his 2016 season at the NWCA All-Star Classic, Nov. 5, as he defeated then-no. 6 ranked Barlow McGhee from Missouri, 3-2.
The following day, he competed in Campbell's three matches at the Mountaineer Quads, against West Virginia, Ohio, and Pittsburgh. Kraisser defeated Devin Brown (WVU) via pinfall at 2:43.
During his second match of the day, he defeated Hayden Lee of Ohio by way of tech fall, 22-5. In his final match of the competition, Kraisser took a 5-4 decision against Lorenzo Bentley from Pittsburgh.
Most recently, Kraisser has moved up to no. 8 in the Intermat Rankings at the 125-weight class. He began the season at no. 14 in the same rankings. As a team, Campbell is receiving votes in the USA Today/NWCA national rankings, the first in the program history. With the three receiving votes, Campbell sits sixth in the receiving votes section, no. 31 overall.
Campbell wrestling will be back in action, Nov. 13, at 9 a.m. against Clarion and then 11 a.m. against American, hosted by American University in Washington D.C.
