WINSTON SALEM, N.C. – Campbell track & field participated in the 2016 High Point Team Challenge hosted at the JDL Fast Track Thursday evening.
On the women's side Joan Maritim finished seventh in the 1-mile run with her time of 5:05.90. Amina Alvarez Barkane finished with a 5:24.02 and Kaelyn Yoder completed the race with a 5:34.99 time. In the men's 1-mile, Amon Terer finished the race in 4:25.29 and Jacob Kipserem finished the race with a 4:27.92 mark.
Asia Olds represented Campbell in the 60-meter dash earning a fourth place finish with her 8.08s mark. In the men's race, Tashinga Chitambira also finished in fourth place as he ran a 6.97s time
Roshae Jackson finished third in the 800-meter race, running a 2:16.59 time. Kelsey Rea finished the race at 2:25.63, placing her in 10th place. Brianna Meyrick finished in 14th place with her 2:29.74 time and Alfreda Hagans completed the race in 2:37.45. For the men, Michael McLamb represented the Camels, finishing in 2:06.99.
In the women's 200-meter dash, Deonica Reid finished in third place as she ran a 26.17s, .09 behind second place. Fabian Jarrett and Cornelius Scott finished fourth and fifth in the men's 200-meter dash, running 23.15 and 23.16 respectively. Chigozie Atavwigho finished with a 23.27s mark, placing him seventh.
Amon Terer won the men's 3,000-meter event as he finished at 8:36.07. Kipserem finished third in the race with his 8:45.08 time. Josh Vermette also ran in the event, finishing at 9:21.97. A trio of female runners participated in the 3,000-meter run. Ali Bowen finished the event in 11:09.69 while Megan Lanzon and Aimee Fish ran an 11:34.43 and 11:35.10 respectively.
Campbell's women 4x400-meter relay 'A' team finished in first place with their time of 3:55.49. The team consisted of Jocelyn Culbreath, Tatiana Wolfe, Jackson and Olds. The 'B' team finished at 4:20.89. The men's 4x400-meter 'A' team finished in first place as well, finishing at 3:23.83. The team was composed of Atavwigho, Lorne Jenkins, Jarrett and Scott.
In the men's shot put, Shiraj Prince finished with a throw of 12.87 meters. Nate Tyson placed third in the men's high jump with his mark of 1.86-meters. Chase Edwards also competed in the event for Campbell.
Shenelle McKay finished third in the women's long jump with her jump of 5.31-meters, .07 away from top place. Noah Tyson competed in the men's long jump, recording a jump of 6.14-meters. Taylor Swanson and Nate Tyson also entered the event, both jumping 5.97-meters.
Jaszlyn Jenkins earned second place in the women's triple jump with her distance of 11.43-meters. Swanson also finished in second place in the men's triple jump as he set a mark of 12.92-meters. Noah Tyson and Davian Rhodes also represented Campbell in the event.
