BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Host Campbell University will play Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the first round of the Big South Conference men's basketball championship at the John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center / Gilbert Craig Gore Arena.
The Fighting Camels (12-17, 5-13) finished in a four-way tie for eighth place in the league standings, but will carry the 11th seed in next week's event due to league tiebreaking procedures. Campbell will face sixth-seeded Gardner-Webb (15-15, 10-8) in Thursday's first round finale at Gore Arena.
Eighth-seeded Longwood (9-22, 5-13) will meet ninth seed Charleston Southern (9-20, 5-13) in Thursday's 2:00 p.m. first-round opener. Seventh seed Radford (16-14, 9-9) faces 10th-seeded Presbyterian (10-19, 5-13) at 4:30 p.m.
High Point (20-9, 13-5) earned the top seed and will meet either Longwood or Charleston Southern in Friday's 12:00 p.m. quarterfinal opener. Fourth-seeded UNC Asheville (19-11, 12-6) will face fifth seed Liberty (13-18, 10-8) in the second quarter.
Second-seeded Winthrop (21-8, 13-5) will face the winner of the Radford-Presbyterian game in Friday's 6:00 p.m. quarterfinal. Third seed Coastal Carolina (18-10, 12-6) will meet either Gardner-Webb or Campbell in the last quarterfinal of the day.
Semifinals are set for Saturday, Mar. 5 starting at 1:00 p.m. The championship game is slated for 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 6 and will be televised by ESPN2.
Campbell and Gardner-Webb played a pair of tight games during the regular season. GWU won 71-68 Jan. 6 at Boiling Springs, while the Camels topped the Runnin' Bulldogs 89-85 in overtime Feb. 11 in Buies Creek.

All-session booklets are available for $60 per seat (reserved seating) and $40 per seat (general admission). Single-session tickets can also be purchased and range $5-15 per seat for each session of the tournament.
Campbell will host the men's basketball championship for the first time at the 3,095-seat Gore Arena in the Pope Convocation Center. The winner of the four-day event will receive the conference's automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.
