CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Men's tennis falls 4-3 on the road at Charlotte on Saturday afternoon. The Camels drop to 1-3 while the 49ers improve to 1-0 in their season opener.

The Camels fell behind early after the 49ers took the doubles point winning the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches 6-4 and 6-0 respectively. Lorenz Schwab and Nicolas Rakitin won the No. 3 doubles match 6-3 over Sam Brazil and Sam Rice heading into the singles matches.

The teams split the singles matches with Campbell winning the No. 2, 4, and 6 matches while Charlotte took the No. 1, 3, and 5 matches to win the match 4-3. Schwab picked up his second individual win over Jordi Massalle Ferrer in three sets 4-6, 6-1, 6-3, earning Campbell one team point.

Nicolas Rakitin earned his third individual win moving to 3-1 one the season as he beat Rive in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. Gerard Sola also snagged his third individual (3-1) in a three-set win (5-7, 6-4, 6-4) over Jensen Martin.

The Camels return to action on February 13 as they host UNC Greensboro on the courts of the James R. Nisbet Tennis Center with the first serve set for noon.
