ORLANDO, FLA. – Annelie Sjoholm is tied for 12th individually and Campbell sits in 14th place in the team standings after Sunday's first round of the UCF Challenge at Eagle Creek Golf Club.
Playing in chilly and windy conditions, Sjoholm shot a two-over 74 on the par-72, 6349-yard Eagle Creek layout and its three strokes off the lead heading into Monday's second round of the 54-hole event.
A sophomore from Vasteras, Sweden, Sjoholm leads the 96-golfer field with 16 pars. She played the par-3 and par-5 holes at even and was two-over the par-4 layouts Sunday.
Only co-leaders Michelle Butler of Missouri and Emily Penttila of Tulane finished the day in red numbers, at one-under-par 71.
In a field that includes eight schools ranked in the nation's top-50 by Golfstat, No.-42 Houston (295) holds a four-stroke lead over 39th-ranked Texas (299) after one round. No.-25 Missouri, No.-15 Iowa State and Augusta are tied for third (301).
At 312 strokes, No.-46 Campbell, which finished the day with 54 pars, fifth-best in the 18-school field, is two strokes behind No.-29 Miami. The Camels own a two-shot edge over South Florida (314) and are four in front of Mississippi State (316) heading into Monday's action.
Campbell junior Louise Latorre made 12 pars and one birdie Sunday and is tied for 30th place at 5-over 77. Senior Tahnia Ravnjak finished the team with nine pars and two birdies and is tied for 46th (78). Sophomore Ayelen Irizar shot 83, while junior Nadine White finished with an 84.
