CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Katie Baker has been named the Crons Brand Big South Pitcher of the Week for her performances during the games between March 21-27. Campbell won three of its four games during the game week, including winning two of three at Gardner-Webb in conference play.
During the midweek, Campbell welcomed Elon to Amanda Littlejohn Stadium, a game that was rescheduled from Feb. 23. Getting the start, Baker pitched a complete game, seven innings, allowing five hits in the 3-0 win. She walked one batter while fanning seven, a season-high for the junior from Hickory, N.C.
In the weekend series at Gardner-Webb, Baker earned the nod during game one and game three of the series. In Friday's first game, Baker went 4 1/3 innings, allowing three hits and four runs. She struck out five batters as Campbell held on for the 6-4 win. Her third start came in Saturday's rubber match, going 3 1/3 innings, allowing one hit and recorded four strikeouts. Campbell took game three in five innings, winning 9-0.
Campbell continues play, looking to build on their weekend series win, hosting UNC Wilmington in a doubleheader Tuesday beginning at 4 p.m. inside Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.
