JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – Nadine White tied for fifth overall and Campbell finished third in the team standings after Tuesday's final round of the UNF Collegiate women's golf tournament.
The Camels entered the 17-school event ranked No.-56 by Golfstat and finished behind only two teams ranked among the nation's top 40. No.-36 Houston (293-297-288—878), which set event 18- and 54-hole records over the final day of play at the par-72, 6002-yard Jacksonville Golf and Country Club, earned team honors. No.-25 Texas (293-297-298—888) was second.
The Camels posted three-straight rounds of 12-over 300 and tied with the College of Charleston (301-296-303—900) for third place, four strokes better than Chattanooga. Campbell placed higher than three other schools rated in the Golfstat top-100, including No.-60 Chattanooga, No.-68 Old Dominion and No.-98 and tournament host North Florida.
As a team, the Camels led the field in par-three scoring (+5), were second in both pars (171) and birdies (30) and fourth in par-four scoring (+38). Only four golfers in the 95-player field shot below par Tuesday.
White (71-74-74—219) finished two strokes behind co-medalists Emily Gilbreth and Megan Thothong of Houston. The Cougar teammates finished with 217 tournament total to equal the 54-hole tournament record set by Thothong in winning last year's event.
A junior from Brisbane, Australia, White led the event in par-four scoring (-4), the lone player in red numbers on those layouts. She finished with 10 birdies, second only to co-medalist Thothong's 12.
Campbell sophomore Annelie Sjoholm tied for 14th place (74-73-76—223). She made 38 pars (tied for fourth in the field) and tied for the tournament lead in par-three scoring (-3). Junior Louise Latorre tied for 30th (80-75-75—230) after making 34 pars and playing the par-three layouts even.
Senior Tahnia Ravnjak, who made 35 pars, tied for 42nd (75-78-78—231), while sophomore Ayelen Irizar tied for 50th (80-78-75—233) after playing the par-three holes at 1-under. Playing as an individual, senior Mary-Katelyn Holanek tied for 66th (84-79-75—238).
The Camels continue their spring schedule Mar. 21-22 in the Briar's Creek Invitational at Johns Island, S.C.
