Box Score JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – Loren Day scored two goals as the Camels fell 17-7 to the Dolphins of Jacksonville University. Campbell falls to 2-4 while Jacksonville improves to 2-3 on the season led by Jamie Chapman's five goals.
Six Camels scored in the game against the Dolphins led by Day with two goals. Mackenzie Koeller, Erica Hitch, Kaki Armiger, Sara Paul and Kayla Reilly each recorded a goal to total seven goals for Campbell.
Chapman led the Dolphins with five goals and an assist while Rachel Aus tallied five points on four goals and one assist. Danielle Della Rocca tallied three goals, Ashtyn Hiron and Lillie Miller each scored twice and Erin McGuire added one of her own.
Merredith Bechler receives the loss as she gave up 14 goals and tallied five saves while Kaylyn Kearns earns the win collecting seven saves and allowing only six goals.
Jacksonville scored three goals in the first eight minutes of play to go up 3-0 over Campbell. Armiger put the Camels on the board with an unassisted goal at 21:42 for her fourth of the season. In the next 40 seconds, the Dolphins scored two goals to go up 5-1.
Day pulled Campbell within three on an assisted goal from Koeller at 16:35 but Jacksonville countered with its sixth goal from Chapman on a pass from Taylor McCord.
The Camels scored two goals in 30 seconds on solo shots from Paul (12:47) and Reilly (12:10) to round out the first half scoring for the Orange and Black. Two more JU goals from Aus left the halftime score sitting at 8-4.
Jacksonville started the second half with five goals in the first five minutes of the second going up 13-4. Chapman scored three while Aus and Miller each had one to give the Dolphins the nine-point lead.
Erica Hitch scored on a man-up situation as Kelsey Wiglesworth sat out with a yellow card to bring the score to 13-5. The Dolphins countered with two goals (15-5) before Day scored her second goal of the day and 23rd of the season with 11:42 remaining.
Miller and McGuire each added a goal for Jacksonville in the last ten minutes while Koeller scored once for the Camels putting the final score at 17-7.
The Fighting Camels return to action on Saturday, March 12 as they host Robert Morris. The game will start at 12 p.m. at Barker-Lane Stadium for a non-conference match.
