LYNCHBURG, VA. – The Campbell women's tennis falls 4-1 to Charleston Southern in the quarterfinal match of the Big South Women's conference tournament. The Camels finished their season with an 11-9 overall record and a 5-4 conference mark.
Campbell started with the first win of the day in flight No. 2 of the doubles matches as Georgina Segarra and Isabel Boada defeated Gabriela Srodowski and Kimberley Koerner 6-3.
The Buccaneers wrapped up the doubles matches with back-to-back wins on courts one and three. Nicolin Luecke and Brianna Thompson beat Irina Karangozishvili and Nina Asanin on one 6-3 and Sophie Cloessner and Valeria Koussenkova clinched the doubles point over Maud Mrad and Ewa Telenga 6-4 on court six.
In singles action, the Buccaneers went up 2-0 over the Camels as Koussenkova defeated Telenga at flight six, 6-2, 6-0. Boada finished up next in flight No. 4 earning the Camels only point of the match downing Srodowski 7-5, 6-1.
Charleston Southern finished up business by winning singles matches at No. 5 and 2 to clinch the victory and a spot in the Big South semifinal match. Koerner took down Asanin at five in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 while Cloessner defeated Segarra 6-2, 6-4 for the final match point.
The Camels finish the season 11-9 and 5-4 in conference action.
