BUIES CREEK, N.C. --- Loren Day set a new Campbell single-game record with eight goals and the Camels rolled to a 20-6 victory over Radford on Saturday at Barker-Lane Stadium. It was CU's largest margin of victory over a Big South opponent in its four-year history.
Day led nine Camel goal scorers including Erica Hitch, who found the back of the cage four times and dished out three assists to finish with seven points. Kayla Reilly tallied a game-high four assists to go with a goal for five points while Annie Pazulski scored twice and had two helpers for a total of four points. Day added an assist for a game-high nine points, just one behind her single-game record set last season.
Campbell (6-6, 2-1 BSC) struck for six unanswered goals, including four from Day, in the first five minutes of action. Radford (1-9, 0-3) got on the board with a goal from Adrian Rius in the seventh minute to cut the deficit to 6-1. Campbell answered with another 6-0 spurt to take a commanding 12-1 lead with 13:24 left in the first half. Hitch had three goals during the scoring run.
Rius once again broke up the Camels' scoring outburst with her second goal of the game two minutes later. CU ended the half with four goals over a seven minute stretch to take a 16-2 lead at halftime. Mackenzie Koeller registered a goal during the final few minutes of the opening stanza.
Erin O'Hara and April Reinhart each scored their first goals of the season to open the second half for Campbell. Day registered her final goal of the game to cap a 7-0 scoring run, the longest of the game, as CU held a 19-2 advantage. Juliette Ruland found the back of the cage for the Highlanders before Amanda Chasin registered her first collegiate goal to conclude the Campbell scoring with 16:47 left. Radford added three goals in the final 8:43 of play to finish out the contest.
As a team, Campbell recorded 33 points with the help of 13 assists, which were both program single-game records. Day, who's 51 goals leads NCAA Division 1, also added a game-high six draw controls while Kaki Armiger picked up a game-high four ground balls and caused three turnovers.
Merredith Bechler earned the win in goal making three saves and allowing just two scores in the first half. Kylie Haarhoff played the second half in the cage for the Camels and made one save. Hannah Rosen took the loss for RU despite five saves. Ruis finished with three goals to lead the Highlander offense.
The Camels will return to the field Wednesday when the hit the road to take on Coastal Carolina. First draw from Conway, South Carolina is set for 7 p.m.
