JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – Lawrence Kipkoech and Amon Terer qualified for the NCAA 5K race and Sabina Allen broke her previous triple jump school record on the final day of the NCAA Track & Field East Regional.
Kipkoech and Terer, who previously qualified for the 10,000-meter race, qualified for the NCAA National meet in the 5,000-meter race as well. Terer finished fifth in his heat and eighth overall, running a time of 14:10.79, 1.45-seconds behind first place. Kipkoech finished ninth overall and fourth in his heat, running a time of 14:11.40. Campbell is one of four schools to qualify more than one athlete in men's 5K race and the lone team to do so in the East Region.
Allen finished with her jump of 13.11-meters, setting a new personal best and school record. That mark placed her 13th overall and it surpassed her previous best of 13.09-meters set at the Campbell Invitational April 15.
The men's 4x100-meter team finished with a 19th place finish in the region, running the second best time of the season at 40.22 seconds, only behind their gold medal time at the Big South Championship.
Lorne Jenkins finished 31st overall in the men's triple jump with his leap of 15.21-meters. Earlier in the season, he set the school record in this event during his bronze medal jump at the Big South Championships.
Davian Rhodes also competed in a jumps event, representing Campbell in the men's high jump. He finished 33rd overall, finishing his season as the triple jump champion at the Big South Conference Championship meet with his new personal best of 2.15-meters.
Campbell will have two competitors in two different events during the national meet in Eugene, Oregon. Kipkoech and Terer seek a championship in the men's 10K and 5K.
