Kipkoech and Terer earn honorable mention All-America honors in men's 5K

EUGENE, ORE.Lawrence Kipkoech and Amon Terer capped off their 2016 collegiate seasons in the men's 5K race at the NCAA Meet hosted by Oregon University.

Kipkoech finished 17th overall while teammate Terer came in 21st place during the 12.5 lap race. Wednesday's 10K winner, Edward Cheserek, took home first place in Friday evening's race as well.

With their finishes, both Kipkoech and Terer claimed honorable mention All-America status with their placements of the 24-man race. Kipkoech crossed the line at 14:00.90 and Terer finished the race in 14:12.54 for the Fighting Camels.

The two Campbell runners and both event winners, Cheserek, were the lone competitors to compete in both of the men's distance races at the 2016 NCAA Track & Field Championships.

Both runners will return to Buies Creek with a second-team All-America honor and a honorable mention All-America honor for their performances in the men's 10K and 5K races. The duo took home 1-2 finishes in the men's 10K and 5K at the Big South Championships in May.
