BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell University guard Chris Clemons, the Big South Conference men's basketball freshman of the year, has added all-state honors to his list of 2015-16 accolades.  Clemons was one of 10 student-athletes named to the all-state university division team by the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA).

Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals. NCCSIA members voted for the all-state teams. Teams are selected for men and women in both the college and university (NCAA Division I) divisions. Ten players representing six different North Carolina Universities were named to the 2015-16 NCCSIA University Division All-State Teams.

Clemons was joined on the all-state first-team by Charlotte senior center Joseph Uchebo, UNC Wilmington junior guard Chris Flemmings and Western Carolina teammates senior guard Mike Brown and senior forward Torrion Brummitt.

Clemons, who averaged 18.5 points per game, was named Big South Freshman of the Year. He earned second-team All-Big South honors after being the seven highest freshman scorer in the nation. He finished fourth in the Big South in scoring after setting a school freshman record with 556 points on the season.

Brown, who averaged 17.0 points and 5.9 rebounds, earned second-team NABC All-District honors. He was a first-team All-Southern Conference selection who finished his career with 1,309 points. He is only the sixth player in Western Carolina history to score 1000 points, grab 500 rebounds, dish out 200 assists and record 100 steals in their career.

Brummitt, who averaged 14.2 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, earned second-team All-Southern Conference honors. He led Western Carolina in rebounding and finished second in scoring after recording 24 double-figure scoring games last season.

Flemmings, who averaged 16.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, was named first-team All-CAA. He was named Outstanding Player of the CAA Championship, after helping UNC Wilmington capture the Tournament title. He also earned first-team NABC All-District honors.

Uchebo, who averaged 13.2 points and 11.5 rebound per game, pulled down a Conference USA single-season record 380 boards. He earned second-team All-Conference USA honors after leading the 49ers and finishing ninth in the nation in rebounds per game. He had 17 double-doubles and eight games with at least 18 rebounds.

The NCCSIA All-State second-team is comprised of Appalachian State senior guard Frank Eaves, Charlotte redshirt junior guard Braxton Ogbueze, Gardner-Webb junior forward Tyrell Nelson and UNC Asheville teammates senior forward Sam Hughes and sophomore guard Ahmad Thomas.
