BUIES CREEK, N.C. --- Due to unforeseen circumstances, Saturday's scheduled men's soccer exhibition between Campbell and Chowan has been cancelled. The Camels will still be in action from the Eakes Athletic Complex on Saturday night with an Orange vs. Black scrimmage starting at 7 p.m.

The Chowan squad is dealing with a team emergency from earlier in the day. Both sides agreed that under the circumstances, tonight's regularly scheduled contest shouldn't be played.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Chowan and their entire soccer community," said Campbell head coach Dustin Fonder.

Fans are still invited to come out to the Eakes Complex to catch the team in action as they face off in the inter-squad scrimmage. The roster will be divided into two sides wearing black and white jerseys. There will be three 25-minute periods of play.

"We are disappointed that we won't be playing Chowan tonight, but we still want to give our fans a chance to come out and watch the guys play," said Fonder. "It will be the new freshmen's first time to experience a game as students and we want to give them the best experience possible. We look forward to the support from all our fans."

Campbell begins the 2016 regular season at home on Friday, August 26 against familiar in-state rival UNC Wilmington. Kickoff is set for 7 PM. The Camels feature their largest home slate in 13 years with 12 home matches at the Eakes Athletic Complex.
