Camels finish fourth at Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational

ERIE, COLO. – Jesper Svensson tied for ninth individually and Campbell finished fourth in the team standings after Tuesday's final round of the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational.

Host Colorado (282-276-286—844) won team honors at 20-under par, one stroke better than runner-up Wyoming (280-285-280—845). Utah (277-286-290—853) was third.  The only team in the field from east of the Mississippi River, Campbell finished the 54-hole event at 8-under par 856 (283-282-291).

Coby Welch of Northern Colorado (70-69-66—205) claimed individual honors by one stroke over Wyoming's Ryan Wallen (73-65-68—206).

Making his 2016-17 debut, Svensson led the 108-golfer field with 17 birdies and finished at 5-under 211 (70-70-71).  He tied for second in par-3 scoring (-2) and tied for eighth on the par five holes (-5) while recording his third career top-10 individual finish.

Freshman Max Theodorakis earned his second-consecutive top-20 showing by tying for 16th at 3-under 213 (67-73-73).  He made 38 pars, eighth-best in the field.  Sophomore Ray Kraivixien tied for 24th place at one-under 215 (72-71-72).  He had 41 pars over 54 holes, tied for third in the event.

Thomas La Morte tied for 44th place at 3-over-par (74-70-75—219), while Craig Hornberger birdied three of his final five holes to finish in a tie for 82nd place at 76-71-78—225.

As a team, the Camels finished third in the field in par-3 scoring (+8) and were fourth on the par-4 holes (+5) and in birdies (49).

Campbell returns to action next Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 3-4) in the Wolfpack Intercollegiate at Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh.
