LAREDO, TEXAS – Max Theodorakis is tied for fifth individually and Campbell is third on the team leader board after one day of play at the Border Olympics.

Due to thunderstorms in the area, only 14 of the 18 schools participating were able to complete the first round.  Originally scheduled for 54 holes, the event has now been shortened to 36.  The first round will be completed Saturday morning followed immediately by the final round.

A freshman from Danbury, Conn., Theodorakis logged five birdies and only one bogey Friday to record a 4-under 68, one shy of his season-low round.  He is two strokes behind individual leader Mike Colgate of Nebraska

Host and 52nd-ranked Houston notched a 10-under-par 278 and is one stroke ahead of UTSA, which was unable to complete its round Friday.  Campbell is tied with Stephen F. Austin, and Sacramento State and 6-under 282, one stroke in front of Little Rock and Louisiana-Monroe.

Sophomore Jesper Svensson also made five birdies in his first round and is tied for 18th at 2-under 70.  Fellow sophomore Ray Kraivixien shot a 1-under 71, playing the back nine at 3-under-par.  Freshman Brett McLamb shot a one-over 73, while junior Thomas La Morte shot a plus-two 74 on the par-72, 7204-yard Laredo Country Club layout.
