Raleigh, N.C. - Georgina Segarra claimed a singles win but Campbell (1-5) fell to Appalachian State, 6-1, and NC State, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
Campbell dropped the opening two sets in doubles action against the Mountaineers (4-4) to fall behind, 1-0, early. App. State went on to win the first three finishes in singles action to claim the match win.
Segarra claimed a win on court five in the fifth set of the day to finish. She won the opening set, 6-4, before dropping the second set, 3-6. The sophomore then won a tie breaker, 10-4, to clinch the win over Rebecca Morse.
One other Camel forced a third set against the Mountaineers.
Alexandra Nicoara dropped the opening set, 4-6, before forcing a decisive third set by winning set two, 6-2. Nicoara fell in a close tie breaker, 11-9, in the final matchup of the day to finish.
The Wolfpack (3-3) blanked the Camels by claiming the doubles point with two out of three wins with court two and three finishing first with victories for the Pack.
NC State then swept through doubles action with a match clinching win on court one.
Campbell returns to action Wednesday, February 14 at home against Coastal Carolina. The match was initially scheduled for Wednesday, February 7 but was moved due to weather concerns.
