Camels bounce back with 5-2 win over Radford

All four singles points came in just two sets for the Camels who are winners in eight of their last ten matches

Radford, Va. ­- Georgina Segarra clinched the match for Campbell at No. 5 as the Camels took down Radford, 5-2, Thursday afternoon at the Radford University Tennis Courts. All four singles points came in just two sets for the Camels who are winners in eight of their last ten matches.

With no other Big South matches on Thursday, Campbell now sits tied for third place with Charleston Southern behind Winthrop and Liberty.

Campbell (9-7, 5-2 Big South) claimed the doubles point and the first two singles points before Georgina Segarra clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 5 over Jeanie Acierto. A winner in nine of her last 11 appearances, Segarra sports a 9-5 overall record

Lea Cutura opened singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 over Zoe Fraser for her first conference win of the season and her first win at No. 6.

Pauline Roustan claimed the Camels second point with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Tyler Blalock at No. 4. With the win, Roustan notched her first conference win of the season and improved her record to 3-4 overall.

Lou Regen took the Camels final singles point over Radford (8-8, 2-3 Big South) with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 win over Lotti Meszaros. Before Thursday's match, Meszaros ranked second in the conference at No. 3 just one win ahead of Regen. Regen now moves into the second spot with a 10-4 record at No. 3. Overall, Regen holds a 10-5 record and has won four consecutive singles matchups. In conference play she now holds a 5-2 mark and has won eight of her last ten matches dating back to February 14.

In doubles action, Ana Castillo and Georgina Segarra claimed a 6-2 win over Drousile Dzeubou and Lotti Meszaros at No. 2. The Radford duo ranked first at No. 2 before being taken down on Thursday. Castillo and Segarra now sit in third place at No. 2 after the win.

Lou Regen and Lea Cutura picked up their fourth win in their past six matchups and clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win at No. 3 over Zoe Fraser and Jeanie Acierto to start things off on the doubles side.

Campbell takes a break for the Easter holiday before returning to action on Tuesday. April 3 as it hosts North Carolina Central at 2:00 p.m.
