Camels sweep Longwood to open conference play

Two doubles pairs and three Camels in singles action extended win streaks as the streaky Camels reeled of their third win in a row

BUIES CREEK, N.C. ­- Georgina Segarra secured her fourth straight singles win as Campbell swept Longwood, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the Nisbet Tennis Center.
 
Campbell (4-5, 1-0 Big South) picked up its third straight win and second sweep in row to open Big South play against Longwood (2-2, 0-2 Big South).
 
After dropping her opening three matchups of the season, Segarra claimed her fourth straight singles win with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Tanja Skalda at No. 6 in the second to last court to finish on the day.
 
Alexandra Andrivot picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2 to record her second win in a row and  to claim the match, 4-0, for the Camels.
 
Ana Castillo and Segarra opened doubles play with a 6-0 win over Yulia Almiron and Kaori Terunuma, at No. 2, for their team leading sixth win of the year. The duo now sits at 6-2 on the year and hold a 5-2 record at No. 2 and are a perfect 1-0 to open conference play. The pair has now won three in a row and only holds losses to NC State and Appalachian State on the season.
 
Lou Regen and Lea Cutura clinched the doubles point and picked up their second win in a row with a 6-2 win over Tanja Skalda and Julia Candiotto at No. 3.
 
Undefeated duo Alexandra Andrivot and Isabel Boada remained perfect, at 5-0, on the season with their 6-3 win at No. 1 over Marija Venta and Jamie Breunig to complete the doubles sweep. The pair has played and won all of their matches at No. 1 and continue their perfection in their conference record at 1-0.
 
Ana Castillo notched the Camels' first singles point of the day with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Marija Venta at No. 1. The Maracay-Aragua, Venezuela native picked up her third straight singles win and now sits at an even 4-4 on the season and opens Big South play with a 1-0 record.
 
Lou Regen also tabbed her third straight win at No. 3, in the final court to finish on the day, with a 4-6, 6-4, 10-6 win over Jamie Breunig.  The split set was the only one of the day as Longwood could not mount any other pressure on the Camels.
 
Isabel Boada joined the trending streaking Camels by securing her second consecutive win with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Julia Candiotto at No. 5 on the fourth singles court to finish.
 
Alexandra Nicoara picked up her first singles win of the season and pushed her conference record to 1-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Kaori Terunuma at No. 4.
 
Campbell will take its three-game winning streak to South Carolina as it takes on College of Charleston for its next match. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m. and is a part of a double header alongside the men's team. Campbell then returns home, where they hold a 3-1 mark on the year, to host Big South Conference opponent Gardner-Webb at 1:00 p.m.
