Camels open conference play with win over Upstate

 
BUIES CREEK, N.C.-The Women's Team earned their third consecutive win in today's 5-2 conference win over USC Upstate. This victory marks CU's fourth straight home match win and gives them a 1-0 place in conference play.
 
Campbell duo Lou Regen and Ana Castillo paired up and beat Upstate's Maria Jardim and Vale Zarama 6-2 to start doubles action. CU then fell when Lea Cutura and Lucile Pons paired and lost to Elin Hellberg and Victoria Saldh 6-4. Campbell players Inma Ramon and Alexandra Nicoara also fell to Upstate 6-4 in doubles. 

Castillo and Regen posted 2-0 overall records for today's match. Castillo kicked off the Camels' comeback with a 6-2, 6-1 win to defeat Maria Jardim. CU teammate Pauline Roustan followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Spartan Elin Hellberg. Nicoara notched CU's third singles win to beat Upstate's Ana Boza 6-3, 6-4. Regen clinched the match for Campbell with a 7-6, 4-6, 6-2 win defeating Upstate player Victoria Saldh. Pons closed singles action for the Camels with a final singles win to beat Valeria Zarama 6-3, 4-6, 7-5.
