GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina won the doubles point and three singles matches to defeat Campbell 4-2 in men's tennis action Thursday at the River Birch Tennis Complex.
Campbell's seven-match win streak came to a close. The Camels lost for just the second time since early February.
Bastien Huon and
Ondrej Labik extended their doubles win streak to eight matches, but the Pirates won on the first and third courts.
Dustin Werner and
Gerard Sola earned straight-sets wins in singles for Campbell (14-5), but ECU (14-5) picked up the decisive point with a three-set victory at the fifth position.
Fernando Clemente led 5-3 in the third set, but the match was halted after the team score was decided.
Campbell, which has clinched at least a share of the Big South regular season title, will return to action next Thursday (Apr. 18) in the quarterfinal round of the conference tournament at Radford, Va.
