CHARLOTTE – Charlotte defeated Campbell 7-0 Tuesday in the Camels' season opener at Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.
 
After opening the season with losses to sixth-ranked Duke and No. 16 Wake Forest, the 49ers extended their win streak to six matches Tuesday and dropped just one set in the process.
 
Coach Mike Stevens' Campbell lineup included three freshmen making their collegiate debut.  Rhona Cook won the opening set at No. 2 singles, but eventually fell in three to Rocio Safont.  Mariana Ossa rallied from 5-1 down in the second set to force a tiebreak, but lost 7-3 in the breaker at No. 5 to Emma Wilkins.
 
Campbell returns to action Sunday in a 12 noon start at Wake Forest.
