ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Campbell extended its win streak to six matches with a 5-2 victory Saturday at UNC Asheville.
The Camels (11-7, 6-1) won their ninth in the last 10 outings and stand just one-half game behind Charleston Southern in the Big South standings entering the final week of the regular season.
Asheville (11-3, 3-2) won the doubles point, but the Camels claimed the second through sixth singles matches without dropping a set.
Marissa Pennings won her 11th-consecutive singles match with a 6-3, 7-5 triumph at No. 2 while
Sandra Gines claimed her sixth in a row following a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4.

Abbie Tyler also won in straight sets.
Campbell returns to action Wednesday with a 2:00 p.m. first serve against NC Central at the Nisbet Tennis Center.
The Camels can clinch a first-round bye in the Big South Championship with either a win next Sunday (Apr. 10) at Longwood or one Gardner-Webb loss in the Runnin' Bulldogs' three remaining league matches.
