ELON, N.C. – Elon won its 10
th consecutive match, defeating visiting Campbell 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
The Phoenix improved to 11-4 on the season, while Campbell dipped to 8-6.
The Campbell duo of
Tamsin Hart and
Lily Chitambar opened the match with a 6-0 shutout over Ella Suk and Simone Bergeron before Elon took the tightly contested doubles point on Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding's 7-5 win over CU's
Eeva Ristola and
Mialy Ranaivo.
Tanik clinched the match for the Phoenix, who claimed five of the six singles matchups, edging Campbell's
Eeva Ristola in three frames, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Chitambar put Campbell on the board, rallying after an opening set loss to down Suk in three, 5-7, 6-0, 6-2.
Next up, Campbell will head to Longwood on March 23.
