Tales from the Creek | Scott Evans

TFTC Scott Evans

March 26, 2026
Scott Evans was a member of the 1984 recruiting class that made a huge impact on the Campbell Baseball program.  The team had competed on the Division I level for less than a decade and was starting its first as a member of the newly-formed Big South Conference.

Fast forward four years.  Scott and his teammates had averaged 30 wins per year, won 75 percent of their league contests, and claimed the program's first Big South title, albeit one that did not yet result in an NCAA postseason berth.

At Campbell, Scott was mentored by two former major league pitchers - Cal Koonce and Mike Caldwell – and played against some of the country's top collegiate programs.

Not only did Scott and his teammates find success over the course of their careers, but they formed a bond that continues to this day.

After his playing career ended, Scott began to work in the family business and has carried on his family's generosity to his alma mater.

In the next episode of Tales from the Creek, Scott Evans chats with Stan Cole about his path to Campbell, his professional career, and more.

Suggestions for future Tales from the Creek interview subjects are always welcome and may be sent to Stan Cole at cole@campbell.edu.
