C.C. Buford

Former College of Charleston standout C.C. Buford is in her second year on the Fighting Camel staff in 2018-19 and has already made an impact on the program.

During her first year with the Camels, Buford helped guide the team to a 3rd-straight Big South Conference championship and secure an NCAA Regional berth for the seventh-consecutive season.

The 2017-18 Camels won four tournaments and claimed a pair of individual titles.  Campbell golfers finished 1-through-5 among Big South Conference stroke average leaders.

Buford helped with the development of Big South golfer of the year Annelie Sjoholm, freshman of the year Isabell Ekstrom, and three more all-conference performers in Ayelen Irizar, Desiree Andersson and Stacey White.

She helped lead the team to a No.-45 national ranking and national top-15 statistical marks in eagles, greens in regulation, fairway percentage, putts on greens in regulation, par-4 scoring, birdies and average score.

Buford was named assistant golf coach at Campbell University in June 2017 after serving one year as a volunteer assistant coach at her alma mater.

While on the staff at College of Charleston, she helped lead the Cougars to a runner-up finish in the 2017 Colonial Athletic Association Championship, while also mentoring senior Laura Fuenfstueck, who finished in the top 25 at the NCAA Championship after earning an individual berth to the Athens, Ga. Regional.

During her playing career, Buford was a member of a pair of CAA title-winning teams in 2014 and 2015 that went on to compete in NCAA Regional play.  She qualified for the 2014 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at Nassau Country Club.  Buford was also presented the 2015 J. Steward Walker Cup, which is presented annually to one CofC senior student-athlete based on academic, athletic, volunteer and community service.

A native of San Antonio, Texas, Buford’s father, R.C., is general manager of the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs. Her mother, Beth Boozer Buford, was an LPGA Tour golfer, who played in the U.S. and British Open Championships.
