Rodrigo Almeida

Rodrigo Almeida joins the Campbell University Tennis staff as a Graduate Assistant Coach for both the men's and women's programs. A 2015 graduate of Western New Mexico University, Almeida will be pursuing his Master's of Education degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at Campbell.

In his playing time at WNMU, Almeida enjoyed a well-decorated collegiate tennis career from 2010-2014. A two-time Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Year, he reached rankings as high as #26 in the ITA's NCAA DII rankings, as well as a #1 ranking in the DII central region his senior season. Almeida reached the quarterfinal of the NCAA DII Nationals in 2011, followed by a Round of 16 finish in 2012.

Following his playing career, Almeida served as a Student Assistant Coach for WNMU's men's and women's tennis teams for the 2014-15 season, helping coach both teams to the RMAC championships. He planned strength and conditioning sessions, assisted with recruiting and coordinated travel arrangements for both Mustang squads while working to complete his Bachelor's of Science Degree in Physical Education.

After graduation, Almeida spent the summer of 2015 in Europe as a tennis instructor for a group of 15 nationally ranked American juniors. Working in cities such as Amsterdam, Prague, Barcelona and Paris, he conducted on-court practice and conditioning sessions, performed match analysis and coordinated travel arrangements for the group.

Prior to joining Campbell, Almeida served as a Tennis Professional for Cliff Drysdale Tennis, a full-service tennis management company. Working in different locations such as Florida, New York and California, he taught tennis lessons to clients ranging from beginners to semi-professionals. He also enrolled in the Cliff Drysdale Tennis Professional Advancement Program that instructs managers on the financial and operational workings of a tennis-oriented resort or club.
