2009-10:  Posted 6-18 overall record for the Camels as a freshman in the 174-pound spot…Won three matches in collegiate debut at the Pembroke Classic…Won opening match at Navy Classic…Earned major decision victories against Davidson and Saint Andrews…

Prep/Personal:  John Wesley Merickel was a four-year letter-winner for the Moscow High School Bears and claimed first place in Idaho’s 2009 tri-state championships…Finished third at the state championships as a senior after claiming sixth place at the state competition during his junior season…Also was a state qualifier his sophomore season…Captained the football team and played baseball as well for the Bears…Born August 11, 1991…Son of Frank and Cathy Merickel…Has one brother, Seth…plans to major in math…
