Bryant Foster

Bryant Foster enters his second season at Campbell and first asthe Camels’ defensive passing game coordinator, also coachingdefensive backs.

In his first season at Campbell, Foster helped guide the Cameldefense to improvements in total offense, points per game, rushingyards per game and passing yards per game. Those strides includedimprovements of 62.3 yards of total offense and 54.7 yards rushingfewer per game.

Foster came to Campbell from Delaware State, helping the Hornetsto their first winning season in five years in 2012. Delaware Stateranked second in the MEAC with 15 interceptions.

Under Foster’s tutelage, DSU cornerback Nick Williamsranked sixth in the league with three interceptions, returning onefor a touchdown. Delaware State also ranked second in the MEAC inturnover ratio with a 1.36 clip (+15).

Prior to joining the Hornets, he served four years as anassistant at his alma mater, Gardner-Webb University, in BoilingSprings, N.C. With Foster on its defensive staff as cornerbackscoach in 2010, Gardner-Webb ranked sixth among all FCS schools inpass defense and was No. 15 in total defense.

Each of the Bulldogs starting cornerbacks were selected to theAll-Big South Conference First Team in 2010. Foster guidedGardner-Webb's defensive line during the 2007 and '08 seasons,during which a freshman lineman earned All-Big South recognition.Prior to his coaching tenure at Gardner-Webb, Foster was linebackercoach at the University of the South Sewanee (Tenn.) from2005-2006. Each year he coached an All-Southern Collegiate AthleticConference linebacker.

A native of Chesnee, S.C., Foster is also a veteran of the highschool coaching ranks in the Palmetto State, having served as anassistant with the Greer High School Yellowjackets during the 2003and '04 season. He helped lead Greer to the 2003 Class 3A StateChampionship.

Foster gained his first college coaching experience as adefensive assistant at Presbyterian College in 2002, and wasselected to coach in the Division II Cactus Bowl College All-StarGame. He also had a one-year stint at his high school alma mater,Chesnee (S.C.) High, and at Wade Hampton (S.C.) High.

Foster graduated from Gardner-Webb in 1999 with a degree inManagement Information Systems. He was a three-year starter for theBulldogs at cornerback, safety and outside linebacker under coachesWoody Fish and Steve Patton.
