Kate Matava MPS, LAT, ATC joined the Campbell University Sports Medicine staff in June 2023. She currently serves as the lead athletic trainer for the volleyball and the men’s and women’s tennis programs, and has previously worked for men's soccer as well.. 

Prior to arriving at Campbell, the Connecticut native worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at St. John’s University in Queens, NY. While with the St. John’s Red Storm, she served as the athletic trainer for the women’s soccer, women’s tennis, women’s volleyball and women’s softball programs.

Matava completed her master’s degree in sports management from St. John’s University in 2023. She earned her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from East Carolina University in 2021. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) and holds a certification in Dry Needling.
