Former Division III National Coach of the Year Landry Kosmalski joined John Andrzejek's staff as associate head coach at Campbell in April 2025.
Kosmalski comes to The Creek after 13 seasons as the head coach at Swarthmore.
“I’m thrilled to add Landry Kosmalski to the staff as our associate head coach!” said Andrzejek. “For those who study college basketball at all levels, Landry has long been regarded as one of the best coaches in the profession. Over the last eight seasons his Swarthmore teams have won over 80 percent of their games, numerous conference championships, and even made a trip to the Division III national title game.”
“I am excited and honored to be joining the Campbell University community,” said Kosmalski. “I have known John Andrzejek for over a decade and know that he is a rising star in this profession. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from John and the rest of the staff, thankful for the chance to play a small role to contribute to our team’s success, and excited about the opportunity to work with the great young men we have in the Campbell men’s basketball program. I cannot wait to get started!”
Kosmalski was named the 2019-20 NABC National Coach of the Year, and is a four-time Centennial Conference Coach of the Year.
Over his 13 seasons at the helm, Kosmalski helped his squad to seven NCAA tournament appearances, two final fours, four conference tournament championships, and a 241-102 (.703) overall record, making him the winningest coach in program history.
“Most importantly, the teams he has coached exude the traits that I prioritize in a program: they have great culture, they are elite at the things that don’t require talent; like boxing out, talking on defense, and being well organized in late game situations, and they are very physical,” added Andrzejek. “Landry will play a huge role in our daily practice planning and the implementation of our style of play. He also has deep Carolina roots and contacts going back to his time as a player and coach at Davidson. He will be a terrific Camel!”
Over an eight-year stretch from 2017-2024, Swarthmore owned the fifth-highest winning percentage in the country across all divisions (D1, DII, DIII), as the Garnet won over 82% of their games. The Garnet won 21+ games in each of the eight seasons, while tallying single-digit losses each time.
Swarthmore reached the final four for the second time in 2022-23, led by first-team all-American Vinny DeAngelo. Kosmalski was also given the Glenn Robinson Award for the top DIII coach in the country.
In 2019-20, Swarthmore won 26 in a row and finished the season 28-1 and ranked No. 1 before COVID cut the NCAA tournament short with the team in the Sweet 16. Kosmalski was named National Coach of the Year, as well as Centennial Conference Coach of the Year for the fourth time in five seasons. Zac O'Dell and Nate Shafer both garnered all-America honors, and Vinny DeAngelo was tabbed National Freshman of the Year.
The 2018-19 Swarthmore squad reached the national title game and finished the season ranked second in the national polls with a 29-4 record. The team also finished the season as the nation's leader in total blocks, was seventh in scoring defense and field goal percentage defense, and fifth in total rebounds.
Kosmalski has ties to North Carolina, as a Davidson alum, former Davidson coach, and member of the Davidson Hall of Fame. A 2000 graduate, he returned to his alma mater on the coaching staff from 2004-06, and again from 2009-12. While on staff, he helped lead the Wildcats to a pair of SoCon titles and two NCAA Tournament appearances (2006, 2012). The team posted a record of 102-58 in his five seasons on staff.
One of the best big men in program history, Kosmalski was a four-year starter for the Wildcats, helping lead the 1997-98 squad to the NCAA Tournament. His playing accolades include making the All-Southern Conference First Team in 1999 and 2000, as well as garnering Southern Conference Freshman of the Year laurels in 1997. Kosmalski ranks 4th all-time at Davidson in rebounding (877), 17th in scoring (1,438), and 12th in steals (121). He was inducted into the Davidson Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014.
Following his graduation from Davidson in 2000 and until 2004, he played for several professional teams in Sweden and France.
A native of Bedford, Texas, Kosmalski and his wife Lauren have three children, Lincoln, Bexley, and Larkin.
