Mike Collins is a Harnett County native and has been a member of the Campbell University’s Department of Athletics for 15 years and serves as Director of Operations.
In his current role, Collins is responsible for the day-to-day and game day operations for Campbell’s 21 varsity sports programs. He is the administration's point person for the John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center and oversees the operational aspects and usage of all Campbell’s outdoor athletic venues. Collins also serves as the athletic facilities liaison to Campbell’s Facilities Management, Campus Safety and Admissions office.
Collins attended North Carolina State University where he studied Turfgrass Management and was employed with the athletic department. According to North Carolina Turfgrass Magazine, Collins is well known in the industry as one of the top Event Managers and Sports Turf guys in the business and has written several published articles.
Collins was the 2016 Tournament Director for the Big South Conference Men’s Basketball Championship and the 2015 Big South Conference Softball Championship. Collins had a significant role in Event Operations as Campbell University co-hosted the 2015 NCAA Women’s College Cup, 2014 NCAA Men's College Cup, and 2013 NCAA Women's College Cup. Collins also assisted with day to day operations for the 1999 World Special Olympics held at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Collins is a member of the CEFMA (Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association), North Carolina Turfgrass Council, STMA (Sports Turf Management Association), and the SMA (Sports Stadium Association).
Mike and his wife Dena, are the parents of three children, Madison, Morgan and Matthew.
