Jayme Kolinski Named to Verizon® Academic All-District Team

BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- Jayme Kolinski, a senior on the Campbell University women's golf team, has been named to the Verizon® Academic All-District 3 Women's At-Large University Division First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Kolinski, who graduated on May 13 as a pre-med/biology major, posted a 3.92 grade-point average while competing for Campbell's squad that advanced to NCAA Regional competition in each of her four seasons. She helped lead Campbell to the 2001 and 2002 Atlantic Sun Conference championships, playing in each of the team's 23 tournaments over her final two seasons.
"I've been very fortunate to coach Jayme for four years," said head coach John Crooks. "She has always done her very best as far as preparation for athletics and school. Four-straight years of going to the NCAA Regional and her 3.9 grade-point average - she's such a positive influence to our program."
As a senior, Kolinski played in all 11 of Campbell's events, including the NCAA Regional for the third-straight year. She posted a stroke average of 79.7 and scored a career-low round of 72 twice. She finished sixth at the Fighting Camel Classic last month and placed 14th at the Atlantic Sun Championship.
Female athletes on the at-large teams represent varsity programs in crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, and water polo. Kolinski was one of 15 student-athletes chosen to the District 3 All-Academic first team. The first team honorees will be place on the national ballot. The Verizon® Academic All-America University Division Team will be announced on June 13.
CoSIDA members nominate players for Verizon Academic All-America recognition. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or key reserve on his or her team. CoSIDA members vote on the all-district teams. A national panel selects the Academic All-America teams. District 3 includes all NCAA Division I schools in the states of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
Kolinski is a four-time Atlantic Sun All-Academic Team member. In addition to her athletic accomplishments, she is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Eta Sigma, Episilon Pi Eta, Sigma Tau Delta and Pre-Med Allied Health honor societies. She earned a Presidential Academic Scholarship to Campbell and was a member of the President's and Dean's Lists.
A native of Colgate, Wisc., Kolinski placed second in the 1998 Wisconsin High School State Championships while at Divine Savior School and was a first-team all-state selection.
Kolinski is the fifth Campbell Student-Athlete to earn Verizon® Academic All-District honors during the 2001-02 year. Crystal Brim gained all-district honors in volleyball, while Sara Davis and Jennifer Feltis were named to the women's soccer squad. Jessica Waters was an academic all-district choice in softball.
