Hot-Shooting Lipscomb Downs Campbell 80-55

NASHVILLE, TENN. - Craig Schoen scored a career-high 21 points, including 5-of-9 three-pointers, to lead Lipscomb University to an 80-55 victory over Campbell on Thursday at Allen Arena.
Schoen, who entered the game averaging just over five points per outing, made 7-of-11 shots for Lipscomb (4-14), which will join the Atlantic Sun Conference for the 2003-04 academic year. Matt Jarboe (13 points, 4-of-4 threes), Albert Hacker (10 points, 11 rebounds) and Charlie Jenney (10 points) also reached double digits for the Bisons.
Lipscomb made 11-of-23 three-point shots on the night, including 7-of-11 in the final half. The Bisons shot 75 percent from the field in the second period (18-24), 58.2 percent (32-55) for the night, to protect a 35-21 half-time lead and end an eight-game losing streak.
Tarick Johnson topped Campbell with 12 points, while Dominique Klein came off the bench to add nine. Campbell (3-11) dropped its eighth-straight outing while shooting just 36.5 percent (19-52) from the field.
Campbell returns to action on Saturday with a 2:00 p.m. tip-off against A-Sun rival Gardner-Webb in a game that will be televised live by Comcast Sports Southeast and WKFT-TV 40.
