Georgia State Defeats Campbell 90-67
In A-Sun Men's Basketball
BUIES CREEK, N.C.
Trello Galloway and Lamont McIntosh each scored 18 points to
lead Georgia State to a 90-67 Atlantic Sun Conference men's
basketball win over Campbell on Saturday at Carter Gym.
McIntosh had 11 points
in a 13-2 GSU run early in the second half and the Panthers (15-8,
10-6) extended a 14-point halftime edge to as many as 26 in the
final stanza.
Herman Favors added 15
points and Kevin Thomas 13 for the Panthers, who won their
second-straight game. Georgia State scored 26 points off 21
Campbell turnovers and defeated the Fighting Camels for the
ninth-consecutive time.
Corey Parker led
Campbell (3-21, 3-14) with 10 points on 5-9 shooting. Colin Hunt
and Diego Aguiar scored nine apiece. Dominique Klein pulled down
10 rebounds and scored six points in 20 minutes of play before
fouling out with 8:57 in the contest. Klein's board work marked
the seventh time in the last nine games that the junior from
Germany has grabbed double-figure rebounds.
Georgia State shot 48
percent from the field (33-69) and made 11-28 threes. Galloway
grabbed 11 rebounds and hit 7-10 from the field. Favors connected
on 6-7 shots, including two treys. McIntosh hit all 3 of his
triples in 4 second-half attempts.
Campbell shot 45
percent from the floor on the day (26-658) and made just 4-14
three-pointers and 11-22 foul shots.
The Panthers hit nine
of their first 11 shots and led by as many as 17 points in the
opening half. A 15-2 run gave GSU a 30-14 margin with 11:31 left
in the opening period. Campbell shot 54 percent from the field in
the first period, but Georgia State scored 12 second-chance points
on nine offensive rebounds and led 50-36 at
intermission.
The game marked the
final home playing appearances for Camel seniors Derek Gray and
Tarick Johnson and red-shirt junior Brad McKeiver, who will not
play next year due to a chronic ankle injury.
Campbell travels to
Gardner-Webb for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off on Friday. Georgia State
