Campbell won the doubles point, then dropped only one set
while sweeping six singles matches en route to a 7-0 men's tennis
victory over Coastal Carolina on Saturday at the Nisbet Tennis
Center.
Campbell (3-5) earned
victories at number-two and number-three doubles then blanked the
Chanticleers in singles play.
Florent Wilpotte and
Zorick Toltsan teamed for an 8-2 victory over Darco Fridl and
Florentine Meynie at the second doubles post. Campbell's
number-three tandem of Martin Parkes and Sergio Tejada rolled past
Andy Caress and Simon Taylor 8-1.
Coastal Carolina's
only victory of the day was at the top doubles contest where Adam
Adler and Richard Redding scored an 8-4 triumph over Jiri Beranek
and Ryan Mills.
Beranek, however,
recovered for a 6-1, 6-1 win over Meynie at the number-one singles
position. Carlos Campo, Toltsan, Mills and Parkes also won in
straight-sets. Wilpotte rebounded from losing the first set to
defeat Taylor 6-2 in the third.
Campbell returns to
action on Saturday in a 1:00 p.m. start against Winthrop at the
Nisbet Tennis Center.
