BUIES CREEK, N.C.
Tracy Taddonio netted two goals to lead the Campbell University varsity squad to a 4-1
victory over the Alumni in the annual women's soccer Alumni Game
Saturday afternoon at the Eakes Athletic Complex.
With the Varsity
leading 1-0, Tracy Taddonio scored what proved to be the
game-winner in the 25th minute of play when she lifted
the ball over the keeper and into a wide-open net. Her second goal
came on a penalty kick after Susan Persson was taken down on a
break-away in the goal box. Taddonio, a senior from Bellingham Wash. has
four goals in the team's two exhibition matches.
The only goal for the
Alumni came off the foot of a varsity player when senior forward
Cadian Lawrence scored late in the third period. Lawrence was one of
several Varsity players who began competing for the alumni late in
the game.
Freshman Danielle
Mandela closed out the scoring for the Varsity when she found the
back of the net in the 90th minute.
Eleven players
Kate Anderson, Kari Belcher, Jennifer Feltis, Connie Ferguson,
Marisa McEntee, Katie (Meyer) Hunt, Christine Nitz, Brook (Rankin)
Small, Carrie Stephenson, Buffy (Taddonio) Bieber and Kim Tippett
