Georgia State Defeats Campbell 92-68
ATLANTA,
GA. Kevin Thomas scored 20 points and Georgia State defeated
Campbell 92-68 Saturday in Atlantic Sun action at the Georgia State
Sports Arena.
The
Panthers (7-9, 4-4) won their second-straight game, while handing
Campbell (2-12, 0-7) its ninth-consecutive loss.
Marcus
Brown added 15 points, 13 in the first half, Malcolm Manier 13 and
Justin Billingslea 10 for Georgia State.
Ruell
Pringle led Campbell with 18 points, including 5-8 threes. Comerlee
Poole finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Maurice Latham
added 10.
Campbell
scored the first seven points of the game, but Thomas scored eight
in a 17-2 Georgia State run.
The
Panthers led 51-28 at the break, scoring 26 points off 14 Camel
turnovers in the first period alone. Georgia State hit 8-17 threes
and shot 54 percent from the floor, while committing just three
turnovers in the opening half.
Campbell
was able to cut the gap to 14 in the second period, but got no
closer. The Camels finished the contest with 19 turnovers, which
the Panthers converted into 34 points.
Georgia
State finished the game shooting 54.8 percent (34-62) from the
floor, including 11-of-25 (.440) from 3-point range. Campbell shot
39 percent from the field and hit 10-of-20 triples.
Georgia
State, which has won the last 10 meetings between the schools,
extended Campbell's road losing stretch within A-Sun play to 27
games.
The
Camels return to action Thursday at 7:00 p.m., when they host
